Victorian Terrace, Hoxton

This 1860s Victorian terrace lies within an East London conservation area and underwent a complete refurbishment, which included a new rear and side extension, providing views through to the front. Reconfiguring the layout of the home ensured better use of space for modern life.

The language between colour, material and light became the story of this interior. A focused palette of strong tones brought character and personality, whilst natural woods kept things grounded.

An important feature of this design was the flow, with each room seamlessly transitioning into the next and inviting you in. Victorian proportions can be limiting, but by cleverly maximising the space to its full potential, each area felt connected.

The ground floor is a burst of colour as you enter what would usually be the dark, narrow hallway with a cosy and luxurious bathroom tucked in the back. The main living spaces are open with a continuous herringbone floor and wooden storage connecting the double reception, kitchen and dining room. A palette of pinks, warm neutrals, and earthy reds with vibrant pops makes up the interior with views out to the newly landscaped garden.

We focused on exploring finishes and textures to achieve the right balance, from ultra matte to high gloss in paint, tiles and furniture. This house is the perfect blend of a charming Victorian Terrace with an interesting and playful interior.
